In India, the appointment of IAS and IPS is done through the Public Service Commission (UPSC). There are so many IAS and IPS in India so far that have become quite popular due to their work style. Here is list of some IAS and IPS which become very popular.

  • Mr. T. N. Seshan (IAS, 1955 Batch) – Famous for strict Chief Election Commissioner
  • Mrs. Dr. Kiran Bedi (IPS, 1972 Batch) – First Women IPS in India, Popular for a strict women SP.
  • Mr. K. Vijay Kumar (IPS, 1975 Batch) – Famous for encounter of notorious sandalwood smuggler Veerappan in Karnataka.
  • Mr. Alok Verma (IPS, 1979 Batch) – Famous for controversy with Central Government during serve as CBI Director.
  • Late Gautam Goswami (IAS, 1991 Batch) – Famous for extraordinary work during flood in Bihar as DM of Patna. But more discussed due to resignation from his IAS job and accusations of entrapment in the scandal.
  • Mrs. B Chandrkala (IAS, 2006 Batch) – Famous for a strict women collector, but accused in the case of mining corruption too.
  • Mr. Shah Faesal (IAS, 2010 Batch) – IAS Topper 2010 batch, Famous because of giving resignation to the post by being unhappy with the violence in Kashmir.
