The famous films of the year 2020, ‘Tanahaji’ and ‘Chhapaak’, has released simultaneously on 10th January 2020. Coincidentally, both these films became victims of politics. Due to Deepika Padukone’s entry into JNU, some trolls campaigned against Deepika Padukone’s film ‘Chhapaak’ and supported Ajay Devgn’s film Tanahaji. But Deepika Padukone’s film ‘Chhapaak’ received tremendous publicity for this negative campaign run by the trollers. The films released on January 10, 2020 were highly appreciated by the audience.
One-sided ‘Tanahaji’ is a film based on historical true incident, then ‘Chhapaak’ is based on the true incident of oppression on women in today’s time.
As far as the box office collections of both films are concerned, tickets for the first day of ‘Chhapaak’ have been booked for Rs 6.50 crore. On the other hand, for the first day’s show, ‘Tanahaji’ film has also booked about Rs 14 crore on box office. Both the films will also see an increase in ticket sales in the further days. In Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Puducherry, the film ‘Chhapaak’ has been tax free. Because of which crowd of audience is gathering to see ‘Chhapaak’ film. With this, almost every film critics have described the film ‘Chhapaak’ as Deepika Padukone’s best film. Meghna Gulzar’s direction and Deepika Padukone’s acting in this film have done a fantastic job. ‘Chhapaak’ film, like the film ‘Raazi’, focuses mainly on the actress.
On the other hand, the film ‘Tanhaji’ has also not disappointed the audience. But the film critics have not appreciated this film very much. It seems that Ajay Devgan is repeating the role of Singham in this film. The character of Saif Ali Khan also looks influenced by Alauddin Khilji of the film ‘Padmavat’. Kajol has also got very little footage in this film. The film is based on a true historical incident but it is full of dramatic events, which makes the audience feel bored. Except the Maharashtra region, the enthusiasm of the audience in the remaining part is dull for the film ‘Tanhaji’.
Talking about the budget of the film, the production budget of ‘Tanahaji’ is 150 crores. While the production cost of the ‘Chhapaak’ film is Rs 18 crore. It can be accounted that if the film ‘Chhapaak’ also does a business of Rs. 35 crores, then it will earn a profit. But Tanaji film has to do business of at least Rs. 300 crores to earn profit.
The special thing is that both the films have been produced by the lead actors of both the films. On the one hand, in the production of Tanaji film, the film’s main hero Ajay Devgan has invested money, on the other hand, the ‘Chhapaak’ film’s main heroine Deepika Padukone has invested his money for the ‘Chhapaak’ film.
As far as making the profits of the film Chhapaak is concerned, this film has already collected about Rs 15 crore before the release of the film by selling its digital rights, satellite broadcasting right and overseas rights.
Analysts have speculated that the collection of ‘Chhapaak’ film will increase due to the controversy. According to an estimate, the full collection of ‘Chhapaak’ film on Box Office will be around Rs. 75 crores, and the full collection of ‘Tanhaji’ film on Box Office can be around Rs. 150 crores. Due to the big budget, the film ‘Tanhaji’ will not be able to give much profits to the its producer. The Tanhaji film is expected to run across Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh while the rest of the north India is unlikely to be a hit. As has been the case before, the films on Marathas and Peshwas are not understood by the North Indian audience, so such films are not much successful in North India. According to this, if the film ‘Tanhaji’ earns 150 crores in entire India, then it will be a big achievement.
However, there are 14 days to earn for both movies ‘Tanhaji’ and ‘Chhapaak’, as Varun Dhawan starer movie ‘Street Dancer 3D’ will be released on 24 January 2020. And then for ‘Street Dancer 3D’, all the movies already playing will be removed from the screen.
