Film actor Kamal Hassan was born in 1954. He started acting in films as a child actor at the age of 6. Kamal Hassan's first Tamil film was Kalathur Kannamma (1960), for which he was awarded the President's Gold Medal. After this, Kamal Hassan played the role of a child artist and supporting actor in many Tamil and Malayalam movies. When Kamal Hassan became a youth, in 1975, at the age of 21, he played the lead actor in the Tamil film Apoorva Raagangal, which proved to be a hit movie.
