The Kerala Story is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language drama film directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. It stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani.
Story of the film ‘The Kerala Story’ –
Shalini Unnikrishnan (Adah Sharma) lives in the state of Kerala, her family consists of her widowed mother and maternal grandmother. Shalini is selected for admission in a nursing college. There she goes to stay in the hostel. She has three other roommates in her room, who are Nimah (Yogita Bihani), Asifa (Sonia Balani) and Geetanjali (Siddhi Idnani). Nimah is a Christian, Asifa is a Muslim and Gitanjali is a Hindu. Asifa instigates these three girls to convert to Islam. Asifa is associated with an organization that works to convert girls and send them to Syria. Along with Asifa, some other boys of her gang also trap girls in their love trap. Nimah rejects Asifa’s suggestion to convert, while Shalini and Gitanjali fall into Asifa’s trap. Shalini has an intimate relationship with her Muslim lover and she becomes pregnant. When she becomes pregnant, her Muslim lover leaves her and runs away.
At the behest of a Maulvi, Shalini converts to Islam and becomes Fatima. Maulvi gets Fatima married to another Muslim. The Maulvi advises her that if she goes to Syria with her husband and worships God, then all her sins will be forgiven. Falling under his trap, Fatima somehow reaches Syria with her husband via Lanka, Afghanistan during her pregnancy. But she would have realized that she was not brought here to worship God but under a conspiracy to join a terrorist organization. There she sees that terrorists are ruling all around and women have no rights. There she learns that her husband is a terrorist. There she gives birth to a daughter. After a few days, her husband goes to some training where he is killed. After that Fathima wants to return to her home Kerala from there. She wants to run away from there but terrorists snatch her daughter from her and send her to some other place and make her a sex slave. In that camp, terrorists gang-rape her for several days. There, like Fatima, many other women were also forcibly imprisoned and all of them were also made sex slaves.
One day Fatima and two other women escape from the captivity of the terrorists. The terrorists chase all three of them. In which two other rebel women are killed except Fatima. Fatima somehow manages to reach the UN camp where she is arrested by the army. There Fatima tells her story to everyone. But she is not released. The film ends here.
