Lok Sabha elections are held to choose the Prime Minister. This is India’s biggest and most important election. In this election, the members of the Lok Sabha are elected by public vote. For the first time in independent India, the Lok Sabha elections were held between 25 October 1951 and 21 February 1952. In this election, under the leadership of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the Congress won the election with a huge majority and Nehru was elected the Prime Minister. Since then Lok Sabha elections have been held every 5 years. However, sometimes due to some reason, the tenure of the Lok Sabha has lasted for more than 5 years. So far elections have been held for the Lok Sabha 15 times. 16th Election to the Lok Sabha The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in India in April-May 2024. For this, preparations have now started in all political parties.
Since this election is also held to choose the Prime Minister, many parties have also selected prominent leaders from their side as the Prime Minister.
