Elections for the Delhi Assembly are scheduled to be held on 5 February 2025. There are 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly. In the assembly elections held in the year 2020, the Aam Aadmi Party won 62 seats. This time the Aam Aadmi Party has not formed an alliance with any other party and has fielded its candidates on all 70 seats. While the BJP has given one seat to JDU and fielded candidates on the remaining 69 seats. Congress has also fielded its candidates on all 70 seats.
Arvind Kejriwal is the Chief Ministerial candidate of Delhi from the Aam Aadmi Party, while Congress and BJP have not declared anyone as the Chief Ministerial candidate.
Many pre-poll survey agencies have made different predictions about the results of the Delhi Assembly elections. Which are as follows.
Survey Agency Name | AAP | BJP+ | Congress+ |
Janamat | 65 seats | 5 seats | 0 |
Public Re-View | 60 seats | 6 seats | 4 seats |
Media 9 | 55 seats | 10 seats | 5 seats |
Phalodi | 60-62 seats | 5-6 seats | 1-2 seats |
- As can be seen in this pre-poll survey, all the survey agencies are clearly indicating the return of Aam Aadmi Party. The main reasons for this are –
- BJP and Congress have not made any leader the Chief Ministerial candidate, due to which the voters of Delhi are not confident about BJP and Congress.
- Under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, in the last ten years, the people of Delhi have been given a lot of relief in electricity, water, education, health. Especially the scheme of free electricity and water has given a lot of relief to the poor people of Delhi. Along with this, by making bus travel free for the women of Delhi, the working women of Delhi do not have to spend any money in traveling by bus.
- Aam Aadmi Party of Delhi has improved the education system of government schools of Delhi. Due to this, even the children of the poor are able to become engineers and doctors by getting good quality education for free.
- Aam Aadmi Government of Delhi has also improved the health department a lot. Vaccination of every child is also done for free. This also saves a lot of money of the common people. Due to free treatment, the people of Delhi are getting excellent health benefits.
- The announcement made by Aam Aadmi Party to give 2100 rupees per month salary to every woman after forming the government again in Delhi has increased the trust of 80% women of Delhi in Aam Aadmi Party.
- Aam Aadmi Party has made a new announcement that free electricity and free water facility will be made available 24 hours to the renters living in Delhi. This announcement has also brought a lot of enthusiasm among about 1 crore renters living in Delhi.
- According to experts Aam Aadmi Party is expected to get 60 to 65 percent votes in Delhi Assembly elections.
On the other hand, voters have lost faith in BJP because in most states BJP does not fulfill its election promises. After winning the elections, BJP calls its own announcements “jumla” and forgets them.
- Senior BJP leaders have used a lot of abusive language against Delhi’s female Chief Minister Atishi, due to which most of the women voters of Delhi have become angry with BJP.
- On the other hand, the stampede at the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela has also caused anger among lakhs of voters. Due to this, a decline in the vote percentage of BJP can be seen.
- During the election campaign, BJP leaders have made a lot of indecent comments on Aam Aadmi Party leaders, due to which the public’s sympathy is also towards the party. If seen, BJP is expected to get 20 to 25 percent votes in Delhi Assembly elections.
On the other hand, Congress does not have any clear issue regarding the elections. Neither has Congress presented anyone before the public as the Chief Minister. Congress party is asking for votes in the name of Sheila Dixit, who died in 2019 itself. Young voters, especially new voters, are also not enthusiastic about Congress. Congress is expected to get 8% to 10% votes. This is the reason why Delhi voters are seeing Congress only as a party that will cut the votes of Aam Aadmi Party in this election.
Well! These are the arguments of election experts, what happens next is hidden in the depths of the future.
