On 21 July 2025, Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from the post of Vice-President of India citing his poor health. His resignation was accepted by the President of India on 22 July 2025. Now the post of Vice-President of India is vacant. The Vice-President is elected through a process of voting by the members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Still, this post goes to the candidate approved by the ruling party.
After the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar, the names of many candidates are being discussed from the NDA for the post of Vice-President. However, there is a strong possibility that a BJP leader will be made the candidate for the post of Vice-President.
At present, these names are being discussed for the post of Vice-President.
- Mr. Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar (Currently the 23rd Governor of Kerala.)
- Mr. Ranjan Gogoi (Currently Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha)
