In line with the New Education Policy (NEP), the government has notified a four-year integrated teacher education programme. Now, the BEd course will be integrated and will be of four-year duration. Students who pursue a four-year BEd degree will get BA and BEd or BSc and BEd or BCom and BEd degrees together. Usually, it would take students five years to complete these two degrees. Just as after doing +2, students get a professional degree with a bachelor’s degree after doing a 4-year engineering or medical course, in the same way, after doing +2, a student doing a 4-year integrated B.Ed course also gets a bachelor’s degree as well as B.Ed. degree will also be obtained. The integrated degree would offer both degrees and save a year for students. The government aims at making the four-year integrated BEd the minimum degree required for teaching by 2030.
The 4-year Integrated B.Ed course has also been started in Bihar. A total of 400 seats are available for 4-year Integrated B.Ed course in Bihar.
