Like other countries of the world, many major accidents happen in India, which are very unfortunate. In many accidents, many people lose their lives or there is a loss of several crores of rupees.
Here is a list of major accidents that took place in India in the year 2023, in which many people had to lose their lives.

• Massive fire at Dhanbad (Jharkhand) – Fifteen people died as a massive fire engulfed a residential building in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad on 31st January 2023.
• Collapsed in Beleshwar Mahadev Temple in Indore (Madhya Pradesh) – In the Beleshwar Mahadev Jhulelal Temple located in the Sindhi Colony of Indore city, at 11.15 am on March 30, a platform built over a well collapsed, due to which many devotees fell into the deep well. Because of which 36 people died.
• Attack on District Reserve Guard in Dantewada (Chhatisgarh) – 10 jawans of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and their driver were killed when Maoists set off an IED in south Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district on 26th April 2023.
• Violence in the state of Manipur – On 3 May 2023, terrible violence broke out in the state of Manipur due to mutual tension between two different communities. According to reports, more than 100 people have died in this violence in a month. Army deputation has been done to stop the violence. Thousands of people have left their homes and taken shelter in the camp.
• Double-decker tourist boat capsized in Malappuram, Kerala – At least 22 people including children died when an overcrowded double-decker tourist boat capsized in an estuary in Malappuram, Kerala on 8th May 2023.

• Six idols at Ujjain’s Mahakal Lok corridor collapse (Madhya Pradesh) – On May 28, 2023, around 2 o’clock in Ujjain city of Madhya Pradesh state, there was a huge devastation in the corridor located in the Mahakal temple complex, 6 newly constructed idols fell down. There is a possibility of loss of crores of rupees.
• Bus Accident near Katra (J&K) – Ten people were killed while around 55 others were injured after a bus fell into a gorge on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway near Jhajjar Kotli on 30th May 2023.
• Train Accident in Balasore , Orissa– In the Balasore district of Orissa, on May 2, 2023, at around 6.30 pm, the Coromandel Express train going from Kolkata to Chennai derailed and collided with a goods train standing next to it. And his coach crashed and fell on the adjacent track. Then the Duronto Express coming from the opposite side also collided with the coaches that fell on the tracks. In this way three trains collided with each other. There is a possibility of death of more than 300 people in this horrific train accident. More than 900 people have been injured. It is being called the biggest train accident of this century.
• Bridge being built over river Ganga in Bhagalpur (Bihar) collapses – On May 4, 2023, in the evening, the bridge being built over river Ganga at Sultanganj in Bhagalpur district of Bihar suddenly collapsed. There has been a loss of several hundred crores due to this accident.
• Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy in Gujarat and Rajasthan – Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy, formed in the Arabian Sea, entered the Kutch region of Gujarat on 15 June 2023, causing massive destruction in many areas of Gujarat. Then here the cyclone entered the south-west region of Rajasthan and caused a lot of damage there too. However, the government had made several security arrangements well in time, pre-estimating the devastation caused by this cyclone. Nevertheless, due to the storm and heavy rains, there is an estimate of economic loss of several crores.

• Fire in a bus accident in Maharashtra – At least 25 people, including three children, were killed and eight others injured when the bus they were travelling in caught fire on Samruddhi-Mahamarg Expressway in Buldhana district, Maharashtra early morning on 1st July 2023.
• Landslide On Shiv Temple, Shimla – On 14 August 2023, Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, 55 people died by being buried in the mud due to a landslide at the Shiv Bawdi temple due to a cloudburst in Endadi area of Summerhill.
• Bridge Collapse in Aizwal, Mizoram – On 23 August 2023, an under-construction railway bridge collapsed in northeastern Mizoram state of India. At least 26 laborers working on the site were killed in the accident that took place around 9:30 a.m. local time at Sairang, a town about 20 kilometers from Aizawl, the state capital.
• 51 Death in Nanded Hospital, Maharashtra – Due to shortage of government medicines and other negligence at Dr. Shankarrao Chavan Medical College and Government Hospital in Nanded, Maharashtra, 51 people have lost their lives in 4 days hours between October 1 and October 4, 2023.
• 18 deaths in Government Hospital in Aurangabad, Maharashtra – At least 18 deaths occurred within 24 hours in a hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad), allegedly due to a lack of medical help, and a shortage of essential medicines.
• Flood incident in Sikkim – On 4 October 2023, a glacial lake outburst flood in parts of Lonak Lake in Mangan district of Sikkim caused a very rapid rise in water levels in the lower reaches of the Teesta River, resulting in the death of 26 people including 7 army personals and over 100 others including 22 army personals are reported missing.
• Fire in a cracker shop, Banglore – On 8 October 2023, 14 people died in a fire at a firecracker shop in Bangalore.
• Train Accident In Buxar, Bihar – On October 11, 2023, train number 12506 North East Express going from Delhi’s Anand Vihar to Kamakhya met with an accident at 9.50 pm near Raghunathpur station in Buxar district in Bihar. Five people have died in this, while about 100 passengers have been injured.
• Car Accident on National Highway 44 in Chikkaballapur, Karnataka – On 26th October 2023, Thirteen people, including a six-year-old boy and a student, died in a car accident on the Bengaluru-Hyderabad highway near Chikkaballapur district, Karnataka.
• Train accident in Vizianagaram district, Andhra Pradesh – On 29 October 2023, two passenger trains collided in southern India’s Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh state killing at least 14 people and leaving about 50 others injured.
