The share of backward classes of Hindu religion in the total population of India is about 60%. Backward classes have the biggest contribution in the development of India. Most of the families in this class are farmers. And many people from farmer families are coming forward in security, health, technology, etc. Many sections of people in this backward class are also involved in business.
After the implementation of Mandal Commission in India, interest in politics also started among the backward classes. When Lalu Yadav in Bihar and Mulayam Singh Yadav became the Chief Ministers in Uttar Pradesh, the backward classes started getting more chances to enter politics. Before him, the backward classes were lagging behind in politics, but Lalu Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav empowered the backward classes so much that many backward class leaders have reached high positions in Indian politics.
